fc08 will be doing break out sessions seminar style rather than track style this year, so you have the opportunity to choose two different seminar topics to attend. Spice Up Your Prayer Life: Sherami Hinders and Lindsey OlesbergPrayer is one of the most significant parts of a relationship with God, but not always that easy to do. We will be addressing individual and corporate prayer practices. Through Bible study, testimonies, training and practice you will be helped to develop deeper intimacy with God and vibrant group prayer.
Loving the World at your Doorstep: Len Andyshack and Morgan Scott Reaching across cultures is easy, and fun, and yet complex. In our time together we'll introduce you to the fascinating process of being a cross-cultural missionary right on your campus among international students. We'll help you understand who they are behind those eyes, keys to communicating effectively, and some possibilities for reaching out to them with the Lord's love. Come take a first step into global missions.
Men's Seminar: Jon Heitbrink and Howie Meloch What does it mean to be a man? How do men bear God's image in a unique way? How is masculinity under attack in today's society? As men, we often get conflicted messages, and in this track, we're going to tackle these questions head-on in honesty and community. Men have a calling in God's kingdom; join us as we work to unleash it.
Women's Seminar: Jean Kung and Jeannie Kim Women in leadership continues to be a tangible issue in our current day, particularly with Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin leading the conversation. But how does the Christian faith enter that conversation? How does the world's portrayal of women leaders concur or conflict with our faith? Should attractiveness and image play a factor in female leadership? We will endeavor to answer these questions and more in this seminar through the lens of the book of Esther.Just Living: Gerry Chappeau and Andrea GarnerJesus cares about justice. We should care about it too. End of story, right? Well, maybe not. Figuring out what it looks like to, "do justice, love mercy , and walk humbly with God" can be tricky, especially when you're a student and your world revolves around campus. This seminar is designed to help us work through and generate creative ideas about how to embody a lifestyle of justice right where God has placed you for this season: on your campus.Experiencing a Global God: Steph Schmaltz and Rachel Danley Been on an Urban Project, Global Project, or GUT in the past few years? Having a hard time figuring out how to take the lessons you learned and integrate them into your own life or the life of your chapter? These experiences can be life changing but when it comes to making personal lifestyle changes or integrating these lessons into a chapter it's hard to know where to start. Come join as we discuss steps we can take to honor the changes you experienced.Friendships and Dating: Bum Kim and Jen Weinman Many of us come to college with the hopes of building lifelong friends and THE lifelong friend whom we hope to marry. Unfortunately, most churches just preach abstinence from sex without any clear guidance with what it means to pursue platonic and romantic friendships. This seminar is see if Scripture can give us greater guidance and principles that we can use for our modern relational milieu. Come ready to share your experiences and questions in this interactive gathering!
